Iron and silicon composed of iron alloy (silica, steel, coke as raw materials, after 1500-1800 degrees high-temperature reduction of silicon melted in the liquid iron, the formation of ferrosilicon alloy). It is an important alloy species in the smelting industry.

Ferrosilicon is an iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is an iron and silicon alloy made of coke, steel chips, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and smelted by electric furnace. Because silicon and oxygen are easily synthesised into silicon dioxide, so ferrosilicon is commonly used in steelmaking as a deoxidiser, and because SiO2 generates a large amount of heat, in the deoxidisation at the same time, to improve the temperature of the steel is also beneficial. At the same time, ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying agent, widely used in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel, ferrosilicon in the production of ferroalloys and the chemical industry, often used as a reducing agent.
